Need a walkthrough on how to clean or replace a bypass poppet on a GPI M-150 Fuel Transfer Pump? We have you covered. Remember to wear properly fitting PPE when doing this task!

  1. Turn off the pump and disconnect from power
  2. Remove the cover plate screws using a socket wrench
  3. Remove the cover plate and the o-ring inside the cover plate from the pump housing
  4. Remove the drive key and gears from the pump housing (Note: leave the strainer in place to prevent parts from dropping into the strainer cavity)
  5. Use a 1/2" drive socket wrench to remove the pipe plug from the outlet port on top of the pump
  6. Push down on the poppet through the outlet port and carefully remove the exposed o-ring on the poppet with a small screwdriver
  7. Inspect the o-ring to see if it is damaged, swollen or loose fitting
  8. Use a needlenose pliers to remove the poppet and spring from the bypass cavity through the outlet port. Inspect for wear, debris or damage. The poppet and spring are part number 110500-05/06 if you need a replacement.
  9. Before reassembling, wipe the poppet components with a clean cloth
  10. Lightly coat the poppet o-ring with grease
  11. Place the poppet into the spring, then place them both into the bypass cavity through the outlet port
  12. Compress the poppet into until it is the lower chamber
  13. Slip the o-ring over the poppet head. Make sure it is well seated on the poppet
  14. Push on the poppet through the outlet port to make sure it moves freely
  15. Reinstall the pipe plug into the outlet port. Use thread tape if necessary.
  16. Reinstall the gears and drive key. Make sure the gears move freely
  17. If you removed the o-ring from the housing, lightly coat the o-ring with grease and re-insert it securely into its grooves on the cover plate
  18. Bolt the cover plate back into place
