How to Clean or Replace Gears On A GPI G20 Fuel Transfer Pump

Replacing or cleaning the gears on a G20 pump can be pretty straight forward if you use this guide.

  1. Turn off the pump and disconnect from power
  2. Remove the cover plate with 5 mm hex wrench, then take the o-ring and gears out of the pump cavity.
  3. Inspect the gears (part number 162501-01) for wear or damage
  4. Start reassembly by cleaning the gears and cavity with a clean cloth
  5. Coat the o-ring with light grease and reinstall it in its groove outside the pump cavity
  6. Replace the gears and make sure they turn freely
  7. Reinstall the cover plate onto the pump housing. Make sure the o-ring is seated correctly before tightening the cover plate into place
