How to Replace the Motor Shaft Seal On A GPI G20 Fuel Transfer Pump

Use this quick and easy guide to install a new motor shaft seal in your G20 pump.


Take out and replace an old motor shaft seal on your GPI G20 Fuel Transfer Pump using your choice of the video above or the walkthrough below. Remember to wear properly fitting PPE when doing this task!

  1. Turn off the pump and disconnect from power
  2. Use a 5 mm hex wrench to remove the four bolts on the cover plate and bolt on the back of the pump housing
  3. Separate the pump housing and fittings from the drive shaft
  4. Note the orientation of the motor shaft seal (part number: 162502-01), then remove it from the pump housing.
  5. To reinstall, lubricate the seal with a lightweight motor oil
  6. Use a 5/8" socket to press the new motor shaft seal evenly into the pump housing in the same orientation as the previous seal
  7. Reinstall the pump housing and gear cover plate
